What to expect

How we work on a heat pump.

  1. Mode check

We run it in cooling and heating to see where it falls short.

  2. Reversing valve and defrost

The parts that make a heat pump different are tested first.

  3. Electrical and refrigerant

    Capacitors, contactor, pressures and temperatures.

  4. Backup heat

Heat strips and sequencers are checked so the bill does not spike.

  5. Options

Repair price first. Replacement only if it is the smarter call.

Heat Pumps questions

Straight answers.

Do heat pumps work in Texas winters?

Yes. Our winters are mild, which is where heat pumps do well. Backup heat covers the coldest nights.

Why is there ice on my heat pump?

A light frost that clears on its own is normal. Heavy ice that stays means the defrost cycle is not working.

Heat pump or AC with a furnace?

It depends on the house, the fuel available and the budget. We price both where both make sense.
